Game controllers more infected than toilet seats

A study has found that game console controllers have 7863 germs per 100 square centimeters as compared to 1600 germs per square centimeters present on a toilet seat. Among other things that contains large number of germs are trampolines, bikes, balls etc. the trampoline among them has the most germs; approximately 640,000 germs per 100 square centimeters.

Even the couch and the fridge handle have more germs per 100 square centimeters than an average toilet seat.

Clemence Brunet, of Domestos, said: “It’s alarming to see that despite the care we give our favourite toys and household items, they’re still grubbier than the average toilet seat.”

Hygiene expert Dr Lisa Ackerley added: “Hand washing is the most cost-effective and simple way to reduce disease. Literally, our safety, and that of others, is in our hands.”

Domestos is collaborating with UNICEF to make safe and clean toilets available to developing countries.
