Clean House sweeps Black Box Theatre

The theatre department will continue presenting their "delicious comedy," The Clean House, today through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. This comedy by Sarah Ruhl is the winner of the PEN/Laura Pels Foundation Awards for Drama this year. The play is directed by Pruitt Taylor Vince, artist in residence.

LSUS debators swing into Red River action

This past weekend the LSUS debate team hosted the 2008 Red River Swing Tournament. Debate programs from 30 schools come from eight different states to participate in this tournament, bringing over 300 visitors to campus. This tournament is considered to be one of the largest in the region.

College campuses kick the habit

On the third Thursday of November every year, many smokers throughout the country collectively attempt to kick their habit. Today marks the American Cancer Society Great American Smokeout Challenge which began in 1976. ACS uses this day to challenge smokers to quit for 24 hours in hopes of encouraging people to stop for good.

Louisiana back to polling booths

Louisiana voters will be heading back to the polls on Dec. 6 to cast their votes in the state's 2nd and 4th District Congressional races. The District 4 seat is being vacated by retiring U.S. Rep. Jim McCrery, R-Shreveport. The race is drawing national attention because it is the only congressional race yet to be decided.

GSA reacts to Prop 8

The Nov. 4 election seems to be an irrelevant victory for many same-sex couples, as California passed Proposition 8, amending the state's constitution to restrict the definition of marriage to a union between a man and a woman. "[Obama] doesn't talk about gay rights; he talks about human rights.
